“If we see cruelty, or wrongdoing, or suffering,

That we have the power to stop, and we do nothing,

We make ourselves complicit in the crime.”

Anna Sewel

Music:  God Help The Outcasts

He is breaking our hearts

This Shadow in the night

Abandoned and abused

Now consumed with fright

He has now become even more terrified

Now, that animal control, is pursuing him

Many people have cursed his very presence

But we cannot let their abysmal cruelty, win

Sadly, some of these haters, have dogs themselves

They have all chased this outcast, out of their yards

“We don’t want that mangy mutt hanging around here!”

The outcast haters today, make rescuing them, very hard

Someone even called the police on us

As we huddled in the dark, with our traps

But this has been happening more frequently

On outcasts and advocates, they now launch attacks

So, we have now enlisted the assistance

Of several volunteers in his neighborhood

We convinced them that helping is not hard

‘Doing Something’ today, can promote good

I cannot even count the number of outcasts right now

And they are so sadly increasing, all across our nation

I know that we cannot possibly help every one of them

But assisting this one, will now give many more, elation

If we can finally rescue him from the mean city streets

We now have several kind souls offering to pay his vet bills

And several more, have now offered to provide him a home

I pray that he’ll allow us to help him - tonight, he’s out there still

if only these people would assist in capturing him, they wouldn't have to worry about him in they're yard and Shadow would finally be safe and cared for. Sad and cruel. Good luck with Shadow, Ed ...

People can be such fools! Can they not see that the sooner they help you catch him the sooner he will have no need to "Hang around there"!
My heart goes out to him.
