Nocturne of a Moon

Hope under feathers perched of a
moon nurtured from nature for wise
eyes keeping vigil by night winking
at passersby by moon capping love
in abyss for fortune in choosing
a lifetime mate worthy

Larger than the day by night quills
drawing souls together again and again
given of owl wisdom waterproofed..for
in a gale one can not be heard, but all seeing..for as much is the Goddess
Athena's own emblem

Voyage to speak in moderation less
foundations break deafening the discovery ascending from moon beams for the wisdom
of buffering your falls in and out of love
when engaged by a nocturned moon staff

Once a screech owl came down my chimney, twice, during a gale. The owl politely, and very lightly, sat on the end of my broom as I thrust him out into the storm again.

I went on a trip around the world. When I returned, an owl had been in my house so I blocked the chimney. Before long, I heard scratching, and removed the panel releasing the owl once more. Unfortunately, while I was away again, the owl tried once again to come in the house and was found dead trying to get through the panel. I hope it's mate didn't suffer the same fate.

In keeping with musical convention you have achieved a lyrical and tranquil quality with this piece. The gentle pace and subdued imagery is just right.

Under the moon, with the wise old owl keeping up with things, love will undoubtedly win out in this lovely setting.
