This poem revives the romantic, Hollywood version of gypsy life. It makes a pleasant change from the crude reality of the present day Roma. What was it about those raven haired temptresses with the hoop earrings? So we lost our wallet; so what! Your gypsy reminds me of someone I once knew.

Your poem brings out the romance of the gypsy and her fortune-telling ways. Like Jerry, the eyes have it. I was once on a winter train in Germany at night when four Gypsies entered our compartment. Two were men dressed in black and two were women dressed in black. One woman had a missing front tooth and was quite ugly. The other woman was strikingly beautiful with eyes that I kept trying to avert because I was afraid that they might rob my companion and I. I would have loved to talk to her, but was glad when they get off before we did.

| Those are the scariest set of eyes I believe I have ever seen, Vivian. Still . . . If I met up with her, I would fore-go my dismay and wariness and hop on that bearskin rug. Uh huh. Yep. I would. Men. We think with other things beside our brains from time to time. |
