He's just not you

After we parted
I found another
he's not you
but he's my lover

I try to fit him
into those spaces
of your imprints
and tender places

He's not you,
but he now lays
where you used to

his smile is sweet
reserved just for me
but he doesn't
rub my feet

his is so gentle
worth risk taking
but he doesn't sing to me
after lovemaking

No, he's not you
but I'll fit him in
where you used to

I give him my love
with tender care
but I still miss the way
you washed my hair

his love is a sure thing
I know it's not maybe
but doesn't call me
his sweet baby baby

I know he is faithful
he's warm and he's true
but I will always know
that he's not you.

Some love (lovers) are simply irreplaceable. Nicely expressed, Denise. Love and best wishes,
