Garden Of Stone

And so it begins...

In your meadows long and green
another stone rose is added
one too many
watered by many a mother’s tears.
In silence we stand in awe
of the flowers that grow within you
hundreds upon hundreds
young buds
opening blooms
tired petals
we stoop to touch them
the coolness of your flowers
lingers on our fingertips.
We pray for the peace
and restful repose
that each flower
so vulnerable, so gentle,
beautiful and brave
planted here
has offered to you
in the name of freedom
and bravery.
Garden of stone
how I hate to see you grow
each day
yet though we can no longer
touch or smell
these flowers given
what a glorious bouquet
awaits us all
in another place
when we walk upon
a greener field
and again see our flowers
young and new
held in God’s hands
and offered back to us again…

Dedicated to those who have given their lives for ours, now and in the past…especially this week -

Caryn M. Suarez

i just came upon this poem from you. Know when I go to the Indian Town Gap military cemetary I will pray for those you mention and for others who fough in all the past wars. My ex husband is buried there bing in the Air Force and my cousin Paul is there being in World War II in Germany just as the war ended but he had to stay to clean up and help them some. I pity the poor families that lose loved ones in wars.
