REPRIEVE

In view of my recent experiences I am of the opinion I have been granted a reprive. See A true Narrative

REPRIEVE.

I feel that in His wisdom the Good Lord has granted me a reprieve,
A welcome fact, for which I am glad to be able to believe,
A chance to live again, for what purpose I am not too sure,
Perhaps to gain more knowledge, before facing deaths final door,

I was facing that inevitable time when life could end,
Nothing left in my power that moment to extend,
In God’s hands I could only place my trust,
That moment of truth which comes to many, as it surely must,

I emerged from the mists of a different time and place,
Images of things half seen which I didn’t want to face,
Nightmarish scenes half remembered through deep mists of time,
Back into a world of light and familiar faces so sublime,

Reprieve, that rescue which meant my time had not yet come,
A chance to live again, to experience the daylight sun,
A chance to ponder on the Good Lords Saving grace,
A chance to make life count in this time and place.

Wonderful and powerful poem! I especially liked:

"I emerged from the mists of a different time and place,
Images of things half seen which I didn’t want to face,
Nightmarish scenes half remembered through deep mists of time,
Back into a world of light and familiar faces so sublime,"

It's great to appreciate and be thankful for the good things of life!
