Car Booty

This poem is about someone who is crazy about Car Boots (U.S.A. call them Yard Sales) and she loves to haggle, then she sells the items on.

CAR BOOTY

The car boot is her favourite place

From stall to stall you'll see her race

This toy is dirty, she will sigh

And haggle hard before she'll buy

She'll fill the car with all her stuff

'Come on Migs, that's enough'

Don't keep on, I need some more

Look in that box thats on the floor

'Just a few more things to see'

You don't have to come with me

Need more than this for my stall

At the Table Sale in Branston Hall

And the fete at the Motor Show

I need more stuff for that you know

More bags to fill, more things to get

She really hasn't finished yet

I, as usual follow behind

The truth is really I don't mind

There's nothing else that she can see

I'm longing for a cup of tea

My car is full of car boot stuff

She really has more than enough

Back to her house, she just can't wait

To sort the things for her next fete

Out of the car and up the path

Follow quickly or face her wrath

Her need to look at what she bought

Some things to wash she has to sort

Batteries needed for musical toys

Lots of things for girls and boys

Harder to find things for men

Cheap shower gel, what a gem

Ten pence a bottle can't be bad

The whole display I think she had

Plenty of things for a ladys' gift

And really they're not hard to shift

So now I think that she is set

Although the fete's a few weeks yet

But she'll be out again to seek

Another car boot sale next week!

Wonderful poem, Vivienne. I feel as if I'm there with you and your friend. I've heard that people buy on ebay to sell on and make a little profit. Thanks for reading my poem.
