that very special day
in October, 2011
I had an remarkable talk with myself
the conversation convinced me
that I was not
the same person I had been
during those lost decades
therefore . . .
not being the same person
meant I could
within my heart
forgive that other guy
his misdemeanors and felonies
so that's what I did
I've been happy ever since
I still carry around some dark
difference is . . .
I write of it not act it out

I too learned to forgive someone I was but am not today. I learned many lessons when I was her so I guess the time was not wasted as I used to think it was. Thank you for this lovely reminder.

Love ya!

I love forgiveness, it's such an amazing thing we do for ourself
be it in forgiving ourself or forgiving someone else...

This makes me smile Jerry, I know both the guys.
I know about the misdemeanors and felonies.
The other guy wasn't a bad guy, he only did things of which you say afterward I should have done it differently.
I'm happy you did forgive him, because you did forgive yourself and took the burden of the past from your shoulders. You closed the dark door of the past and opened the light door of the future.

I like this poem very much Jerry
