Untouchable

Okay, this is intensely personal, unabashed love stuff . . .

I had said, "I am desperately in love
with a woman I can't touch."

She replied, Maybe that I'm untouchable
makes me safe to love.

how can I make her understand
my great love for her
overshadows ALL great loves
recorded in history
how can I say the words
words which will instill my truth and sincerity
my love for her
which will make her undoubt me

lend an ear
of all the ones I've whispered
I love you to
she's the only one to truly be loved by me
love was never mine to have
therefore I could not give it
until she came into my life
all those long, lonely decades of my past
the lies to the women
when I whispered those words
because, quite frankly, I didn't know what love was

until her
if she was touchable
I would most certainly love her
but that love
spilling from my essence
could never be more intense as it was
when she was untouchable
I love her
my whole being loves her
there is no more love within me to give

all the love
I held back from those other women
she has been broadsided by
she is the beneficiary
of love personified
whether she is untouchable or touchable
she still she has her doubts

I know these are merely words
but words are all I have at my disposable at present
therefore . . . I rest my case

That's okay. Women love words. Especially poems as well crafted as this one. And talk always help too. Women love talk.

I found this most compelling, in that it streamed with seemingly little regard for perfection of expression, but relied on the need and compulsion to ground the emotion before it might do harm to you. In doing so, it became its own perfection. The untouchable love is often expressed with different words in the teachings of Zen, but always, as in your honesty here, expressed and sent out into the ether for absorption and lessons.

When it comes to love there are no limits it is what it is, wow, you did unleash here and I love it!

Oh Jerry, this is truly beautiful - such deep intimate emotions for the heart that has finally found the meaning of love... sigh to say

"she's the only one to truly be loved by me
love was never mine to have
therefore I could not give it
until she came into my life"

You have no idea how beautiful these words are... I have known others who also have come to this point of recognition. We are to learn love through the experiences of our lives and sometimes it takes a special soul to open the door to the heart. Keep the door open Jerry, love is such a beautiful thing. For "merely" words have you now alive.

"lend an ear
of all the ones I've whispered
I love you to
she's the only one to truly be loved by me"

Even your testimony to others as if to say Listen! This was my past now I am alive for this special one that is untouchable is the "only one to truly be loved by me..."

Just beautiful
