When I Call Her

sometimes I call her
just to hear her voice
as she sweetly informs me
she is busy
please leave a message
listening to her voice
is like listening to music
sometimes as she instructs me
about the message
I get a whiff of her perfume
when that happens
the hair on the back of my neck rises

As so many critiques might opt to suggest in their demeaning way: how can one smell through the telephone? Such is their suffering, and your joy. Well done.

Aw so sweet, it tells me how this person affects you and how you use your imagination. Reminds me when I was a teen and how I adored a boy who didn't know I existed. I would brush against him leaving the class room just to enjoy the moment.

Smiling, really wonderful Jerry
