Unrequited Bitter

There are signs, always signs when someone is going to commit suicide. They never know of the pain they leave behind.

Nothing can alter

The pain she left behind
Devastation
Tears with no end
Aching hearts
Endless

What ifs

And

If onlys
And the relentless question

Why!

And then one day

In the midst of my despair
A mighty silence fills the air
I clutch chest
Hold my breath
My hands turn icy cold

I see beneath the trailer steps
From a story that she told
Dressed in rags

Haunting eyes
Her face at five-years-old

A trampled spirit
Stolen soul
Molded there
Scarred forever
Yet no one came to rescue

I see a man
A faceless man

Small in every way
A loveless heart
The devil’s brother
Bidding to his call

And so her life
A guarded plight

Of anger unresolved
Bound in hopeless

Perilous despair
Too great for her to bear

People who commit suicide hide their pain well.
They do not want to burden themselves and so
being in that dark and deep well they are unable
to rationalize. They end their life and the ones
who are left behind feel the pain that the person
was carrying.

if this is true...it is sad for anyone to bare but especially from five years old. if it is not true...it is still sad because indeed, it could very well be. thanks

A sadness runs through this haunting tale. It reminds me of my poem, “Poignant.” I just hope it isn't true story, but only a figment of your compassionate imagination.
