Round and round and round
Like a Catherine wheel,
Unstoppable and dangerous to the touch;
The mind in trauma,
The body in knots
In this infinite horizon
Of thought and confusion
No single demand is ever sufficient
To alter or stop the rotation,
Though it is a part of me
It controls itself,
I submit, helpless
To its irrational power;
It obeys its own list of rules
Yet there must be a way out;
Perhaps an irrational way
To rationalise
The irrational,
To free ones self
From that part of ones self
Which behaves apart from ones self:
To kill the obsession
Before it kills me…
