Sea Isle City, NJ is NO longer Sea Isle City, NJ...

At least it is NOT the Sea Isle City I remember...

Our doors did not need a lock,

As kids we ranged 93 blocks,

Never did we worry about clocks,

As kids the town was one big family,

We had our own boats,

And swam off varied docks...

We went to school in our little town,

Now the kids are to other towns bound,

No longer is there to be a Sea Isle City school,

The town may be a thriving place,

But personally I feel it is being run into the ground...

Bars, drunks & group rentals,

Making the almighty dollar is the towns fundamental,

To see how my hometown has grown,

Does only for me cause pain,

It really is to & for all such a sinful shame...

Yeah! It's sad when the only thing that matters is money...at the sacrifice of everything else....it's easy to feel the sadness in your heart, Ed..

The wheels of progress have crushed many-a-memory, it’s not a new phenomenon, but poems and photos help us keep the memories alive a little longer.

I KNOW THIS IS NO COMFORT, BUT...AT LEAST YOU HAVEN'T CHANGED, ED AND THERE HAS GOT TO BE A FEW OTHERS WHO FEEL THE SAME WAY YOU DO. THEY STILL HOLD THE THINGS THAT CAN'T BE BOUGHT DEAR AND THEY MISS THEM AND ARE SORRY FOR THEIR LOSS, TOO. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

They call it progress… Sometimes it's pretty retrograde. At least you live to see it all and can remember how it used to be. I have memories like that, but I don't live there anymore.

I understand and agree completely! Too many of the familiar hometowns
have met this fate. They live on only in our memories and pictures.

A typical story for many small towns who discovered a peculiar new breed . . . tourists . . . spend lotsa moola and therein the town its residents knew began to disappear.
