Mummers March the Ocean City Boardwalk…

Mummers usually march a long way,

Usually as well on New Years Day,

But this is summer, at the shore they do play,

Enjoy to watch them either way…

They have fancy brigades,

As well as the comic,

Some even on roller blades,

Passing the judges they all get grades…

The best do win, though all are best,

Obviously it is a great big contest,

But to see them on the boardwalk,

In their New Years day dress,

Is more fun for me, because its warm outside,

Unlike in January, when one has to of the cold abide…

Mummers

Fun!! Mummering is a tradition on the east coast of Newfoundland too...on Christmas Day night....

Whenever I hear that word, “Mummers,” I think of a different word–that they should all keep quiet and not be so loud or at least keep mum. On the other hand, perhaps it's because they dress flamboyantly and the only flowers they can get to decorate during the winter are chrysanthemums. Clue me if I'm right.

Mummers, where would we be without them, Ed? Good day for them, they've been around for centuries. Encyclopedia entries since grade school and high school prom floats...renaissance fairs and theatre...be well.

I always thought that mummers were the ones who were left behind to watch the babies. Parades are fun! Think of how hot it would be underneath those costumes!

Love ya!

Ok, here is something I am completely ignorant on "Mummers?" You mean those who do pantomine? I suppose that would be a unique thing to witness :)

Thanks Ed, an education I have been given

I didn't know they did their thing in the heat of the summer. Good for them.
