The heavy silence begins
Following the crisis
That unearthly quiet starts
When a mind stops
Haunting your being
Quite an eerie feeling
Taunting the throng
Without a warning
It attacks your mind
Like no other kind
Bitter to the rind
Leaving you in a bind
It creeps in darkness
Where it thrives
As sharp as knives
It hits as it aims
There is little retreat
Or path to beat
If success is met
Quiet will repeat
The time to think
Or even to drink
Go to the clink
Or over the brink
Quiet is the load
Along our road
It’s presence rued
Or maybe pursued
No enemies lie there
For us to fear
Only what we bear
Is in that bare lair
An uneasy loss
Of time and bliss
Is found in silence
Of the uneasy darkness

They say silence is golden but I've never believed it. Silence during a storm is a warning to duck and cover. Silence during a hurricane is a warning to hunker down for the other side. Silence never really exists....
