Unsweetened black tea for you
Passion tea with Equal for me
One overflowing, cracked ashtray
Wrought iron chairs and table
Green umbrella opened, offering shade
And the ants, always the ants
Will the hot afternoon sun be shining down?
Will a popcorn thunderstorm let loose?
Will the table not wobble on the uneven brick patio?
Who will arrive first and scope out a table and ashtray?
Who will be stuck in rush hour traffic?
Who will desperately need the bathroom?
What are the topics today? Laughter is guaranteed
Invariably, family comes into the conversation
Careers too, goals, dreams, frustrations
Politics, world affairs, music, movies
Current events, upcoming trips, whats for dinner
Eyes that bare the soul, words that reveal the heart
Healing the hurts from so long ago
Coming to terms with where life is headed
Mentoring, guiding, and restoration of soul
A foundation of deep respect and admiration
Perhaps seeing in each other that which no one else can
Two souls whose paths have crossed, now journey together
Few could understand the significance
Of a simple tea and conversation
The stirring that occurs of the innermost self
To BE, to THRIVE, to NURTURE, to EXCEL
Such an unlikely pair we are, not peas in a pod
A passion for life that transcends the expectation
Ill see you next Thursday my friend, cannot wait.
