Dedicated to my dear friend and mentor who is fighting for his life.

Torn

If only I could get your advice

For I know that you would have the answer

I feel adrift at sea without your presence

The root of sorrow deepening with each day

I hold fast to the belief that you will pull through

Even when every sign cements your parting

Every positive thought conceals deep rivers of fear

How would you handle this? No doubt far better than I

Always so self-assured and confident; wondrously so

Clearly, your mind is fighting the good fight

Yet your body is crying for release

So what do I pray for you my dear sweet friend?

To stay here among us or to become an angel

To guide lost souls and broken hearts

To nurture spirits and protect fragile souls

I’ am torn beyond all reason

My words unread by blind eyes

My screams of anguish fall on deaf ears

My heart breaking  with every beat

Selfishly wanting you to come back to us

Yet recognizing the choice has never been mine

If only I could get your advice

For I know that you would have the answer

Oh Rose my heart and compassion goes out to you for I know how much of a toll it takes watching ones we care about hover on the brink of this world and the next. I recently watched as the crash cart team at my local hospital worked to keep my heart going as I saw my daughter and her mother watching and crying in each others arms.
It is a hard thing to know what to pray for but all you can do is pray and know that he knows he is loved,

Points out that our human anchors are so important to keep our brothers and sisters from being ripped by the squalls of life.
Very touching, thanks for sharing your heart in this.

A most compelling, soul-stirring creation, Rose. I cannot give advice because I would feel exactly as you do. I can just send you my sincere wishes of comfort, love, peace, and strength.

I can understand your feelings, Rose. The thought of your life without them seems like torture, and wishing that they would remain is ignoring their suffering. I say that you pray for their strength to make the best decision and do your best to remove your own emotions from the mix. Easier said than done, albeit, but necessary. The decision is not yours as you already stated, so pray for comfort and strength for your friend and strength for yourself to help them in all ways that you can. Excellent write!
Take care,
Sherry

ROse, The books of life have many chapters, many stories, and some books are shorter than others. It is the quality of life, not the length that makes them memorable. Letting go is the hardest part to do. Your thoughts and words bring the utmost tribute to your soulful connection. As always, you have touched my soul with your passion.

This is class. Written by a lady of faith. Realising what is so tragic about dying? Nothing for one with such faith. For it is like leaving a bad b/w movie. Going to an unbelievable colourful new life eternal. Just say yes to Gods will. He will do the rest.

Only you can make such potential grief into a inspirational prayer..

Torn! Yet it is a win win situation when one has such unhesitant, unselfish, and caring faith.

Rose, this is such a dear outpouring of the heart. I know this feeling well, for my mom was in this position. I wanted to let her go to end her pain, but for my own reasons of self...I wanted her to stay. I just pray that peace will be found regardless of the outcome...peace for him...peace for you. Take care...Allen

My heart is sad for you, Rose. Torn is a hard place to be, and thread can't sew death back into life. I just posted a poem about this very same rite of passage titled Everyone Hurts. We have to flush bereavement from our veins and move on. My thoughts and Goddess prayers are with you. Blessed Be.

Rose, if you love him you will let him go...end his pain in this existence and be there for him at that end...it is all we can do...the good always die young...it isn't right, but it is what happens...you both will be in my meditations and thoughts...Peace, Ed & Rufuz
