John, Sally and Me!!
While I grew up I had friends over to play, and stay for tea
Sometimes there was my older brother, but most frequently
It was just a boy, two girls; so usually, it was just us three
John was the eldest, then me, and the youngest, was little Sally
We got on well and played many games
I’m sure some of them were less than tame
We spent many an hour in each others company
Just us three, John, Sally and me
Sometimes we’d reside at another’s house
Our games were not unlike cat and mouse
Sometimes we’d just sit and talk
Sometimes we’d take our dogs on a walk
On one occasion mum was calling us for tea
John pinned me against the wall and said to me
“When you’ve agreed to it, my proposal, MARRY ME…
Then you can go downstairs for your tea”
Now Sally wasn’t a witness, as I recall
When John had me pinned against that wall
I’m sure that I agreed eventually
At the tender age of barely three
(Because I was so hungry for my tea!!)
When I was young there were some friends
A simple story from start to the very end
So that was it, a tale of only three
A gang of friends; John, Sally and me
