She once ruled his life,
Thinking only of herself
And leaving him in strife.
She once controlled his every thought,
Giving no freedom,
As if he had been bought.
She told him what and when,
As he listened at attention.
Still he loved her but then She left him.
Years passed and he became famous in his career.
Accomplishing more than anyone,
With his broken heart full of fear.
He saw her years later; a kept woman in a public place.
He walked over with confidence,
Confronting her face to face.
She wanted him now because she knew of his success,
But as she stood before him,
A red shame covered her that matched her dress.
He smiled in his hello and then said his goodbye.
She cried out with her apology,
As tears ran black from her eyes.
Because his heart remembered and saw who shed become,
He did not look or turn back,
He did not run.
He knew the full circle of life had come around as it always does in the end.
A life lesson learned that day to watch your ways,
Or youll end up like her and not like him.

Dear David,
What a powerful statement! one that many should remember.
I believe that "Poetry is a reflection of the human soul."
Is this where this poetry is coming from ?
Warm hugs

A grand lesson, indeed, and superbly expressed!
Reminds me of The Lion King, whenever I read the words
"full circle," now. |
