Oh to be the TinMan.
Without a heart that can break,
Become fragile or hardened
From words or actions of hate.
I could wonder aimlessly through life.
Happy, carefree
And full in mind
Yet empty inside.
To not know of love, would be the trade.
But to not be hurt by a lover
Or feel the loss of love
Would save me from this pain.
My tin skin would reflect so bright.
A shield from all who seek to harm
An armor to protect
If and when I must fight.
And if I were to stumble and fall,
And my empty shell is found.
With no heart to bury, there is no worry,
So leave me there above the ground.
I could then become a beehive or a squirrels nest
Or perhaps a rabbits den.
To be a home to God's creatures is my wish
A protector a sanctuary at best.
Oh, to be the TinMan
And not feel when a lover leaves.
Loneliness with despair
I wouldn't even care.

Dear David,
It's better to have loved and lost,
than never to have known love.
Take heart, love can be truly
wonderful.
Warm hugs

I like that idea. Right, TinMan, the pain of the loss could not harm you - but would you ever feel the love before? The true feeling and caring somebody offered you?
