Body the earthly cocoon to my soul
Are there wings forming beneath your
Aging skin or am I forming slowly
Into an eternal mutant then to be
Of mine own doing, my own choices

Forced to crawl after death in the eternal
Are wings of fine lace protruding from my
Inner glorious self to fly free in glory
Or does crippling stubs form to my aching soul
Shall I crawl upon the ground or soar into heaven

Is my soul crying out in pain as I deform it?
Am I weaving colors of the rainbow to adorn it?
I think of times that I've surely stunted wings growth
Also times stunting has come very close
I mostly hope someday but doubt
I'll boast at the width of my wings that sprout

Then I gaze upon my earthly body
