all along the city sidewalks
     no one seems to notice
the wine discolored derelicts
     that litter the abandoned storefronts

enpurpled,lurching,swaying
      their gait a weaving roll,
as though on some unseen sea,
      they're being tossed about

who,when life's disappointments
       toss them to and fro,and
hope fails them,ravaged and torn
seek any ruby-port in the storm

I love your poetry and your passion speaks for itself. I have that very same picture on my desktop at work. We are kindred spirits. You are truly a solder and may God continue to guide your heart.

I'm always captivated by anything to do with the sea.....it's what led me to read this, and I was surprised when I read on and found that it wasn't about nature......but about "human" nature. You are so right in your words...about what so many of us try to not see. Excellent!

I often feel that these are the invisible people they stand right in front of us but no one apparently sees the desperation in those eyes. Wonderful words of compassion and lke me you see the invisible .

I like the comparison of struggling people as being tossed about on an unseen sea, 'their gait a weaving roll'. Beautiful.
