Equally powerful in its professed adoration of the poet's mother as in its portrayal of how love on any level, in any form, is not a thing to be taken for granted but to be as agressively treasured and protected as it is to be celebrated. A truly wonderful write.

Very strong showing, Nordette. Of course, I'm sure your mother deserves nothing less. The third verse was especially powerful. And it needed to be said. Because too many people today are willing to forget what happened in those days, and thereby forget the lessons learned from those days. It really is true: "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it."

A most beautifully penned tribute to your mom; thank you! I've felt like this before--whispering hope in case "he" is listening and wanting to destroy it like he's done so many times before.

Can so relate to this unique perspective, Nordette! There comes a point when you scarce breathe what is precious and sacred for fear it will be taken... but we should know that a mother's presence, like the Father's, is beyond being able to be taken from us... there is protection and there is intervention... mothers do both (in love, of course!!) :)) Tell the Great Ugly One to take a hike... nothing rattles his bars more than praise of the Beautiful One! Guess he can't stand the comparison! LOL Kate xx

Thnx for this very poignant, very truthful piece. Even those of us who are in transition, have had evils flung at us. But I agree with Jude tho, that Love conquers all. Martina McBride sings, "Love Is The Only House, Big Enough For All Of The Pain In The World." If we have love, we have everything. Love for our Lord Jesus, Love for our Mother's, Love for our children, Love for our neighbors to be there for them, when they need a helping hand, Love of life, to livfe it to the fullest that we can. Love conquers all. Thnx for sharing this wonderful and very poignant piece Nordette. May the Lord Jesus bless you and yours, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister Barbie

I understand not wishing to call upon the attention of the "evil eye," Nordette. I would love to say that you have nothing to fear, but we all know that as soon as we believe that, we will be smacked down. My belief in God and good is so much stronger than my belief in satan that I don't walk in fear very often...respect of power, but not fear. This is an excellent poem and not just another "Hallmark Mother's Day" write.
Take care,

Last two lines seem lost in wanting to wrap arms around Mother to say, "I need you now." God is Mother, Father, and all in all. And satan's name (lower than the lowest of cases) just ain't worth the space on this poem. It's too commemorative for a loser's name like satan to be even in your work, in my opinion.
Yep, I said "ain't" (smile)
blessin's Sis 'Dette--we all would love to slap the devil into hell--then go have a sandwich.
