some poems tell a story

I became the sloppiest of lovers,
redmarking stanzas of your vulnerability,
winking at Lucifer's twin on the hilltop's rock,
that accuser of the poets night and day,
hater of old verses, curser of new.

A smart woman knows when it's time to crawl to
rehabilitation's cave, weep, pray and give
back to a man the emeralds
with which he jeweled her throat.

I embrace razors of the minion no more
-- the learned scribe sniping at the earnest metaphor.

My skin's wrinkly soft, thin like the feeble woman's
through which she sees her fragile veins red as valentines,
threading through the continuum, beatless
against velvet night.

I make love to a word and so cannot hold against the brethren words.
Le mot is in my eye.
Le mot is in my eye.

It's true, this one, sister Nordette. It's insightful and lightful. And very intimate.

Nordette this is a great poem, you have a very strong use of metaphors and imagery here, keep these coming.

This is confessional to make Anne Sexton weep. I have so missed reading your poetries, Nordette. And I mean poetries... your scope is vast, as is your voice. Lines here that make my flesh creep with deliciousness and I love both the self-flagellation and the honest parading of enlightened wisdom. This is "self-knowledge" displayed at its best.

And thank you so much for your full and comprehensive report on the Inaugural Poem. I was waiting for this balanced and most discerning view! :)) xx

To hell with co-dependency's satanic curse and its evil twin, the horned bat wing and cloven hoof critic! And even more deeper to hell with literary snobs in search of the right word! Words strung with assorted colors of unity's beads on a blood thread defeat the "emeralds with which he jeweled her throat"...clasp come undone! Why is it that the critics feel the need for poetic luster and faceted syntax when they themselves are only impostors, imitations of "blood diamonds" in the rough? Varying themes with outspoken metaphors, Nordette...

Praise the Most High God, for He has awakened your muse from that drunken stupor. A stupor caused by the liquid distilled from concious nightmares. Nightmares that are the brain children of that "hater of old verses, curser of new."

Welcome back, my friend.

Nordette - Love the wit and wisdom of Apology. Especially the last stanza:

I make love to a word and so cannot hold against the brethren words.
Le mot is in my eye.
Le mot is in my eye.

and it's play on " ... "le mot" and "...mote in your own eye." Words of a large soul. - David

Metaphorically speaking, Nordette, you rock.
I love the way you use the language; to wit:
redmarking stanzas of your vulnerability...
