The sapling trees shake out their pink and white ruffled gowns,
quivering in anticipation,
virginal debutantes ready for their coming out.
Tender budding green branches reaching eagerly for warmth
from pale cerulean skies
bleached clean by winters cleansing rains.
Beneath their dainty feet
the mother's body groans, cracks and heaves,
birthing her spring brood of
dainty crocus, ruffly purple squill, and laughing daffodils.
Golden poppy lights bittersweet green hills
illumining fresh sward ..lucent fairy lights
glistening in sweet innocent splendor.
Fallow earth erupts in joy and hope,
Spring's zephyr winds cool her fevered, laboring brow
as it renews the promise
of rebirth and redemption,
borne on the wafting fragrances of spring's floral dream,
evanescent, ephemeral, as life itself.
