An excerpt from 'Leonora: Tulips in Winter' ~ a historical novel.

The protagonist, Count Stropov, to Leonora: "The thing we call love is not something to examine and question and put together or take apart. It has a beginning we may not even recognize. It may endure for a short or a long while, and we may not have a say in it. It may elude us altogether. But, if we are given a chance at it, we ought to seize it and try to honor and respect it so we may be worthy of it." copyright Regina Pounds 2002 ******************************* For once not a rhyme...enjoy your Valentine. An insightful, sharply drawn description of an elusive subject. Your quoted excerpt is presented out of context, but I surmise that Count Stropov is subtly trying to persuade Leonora to "give it a shot" with him. "Tulips in Winter" may be written more for the female audience; but when love enters the picture, the issue is gender proof. To enjoy all the details, I best be reading the full story.

Shame on you, Regina, for being such a tease.
