opening lines of the first canto of the Inferno........
In the middle of the way of our life
I found myself in a dark forest
Where the right way was lost.
Oh how hard a thing it is to tell (about)
This wild dark forest, bitter and strong,
That just to think about it renews the fear!
|
My Soul, My Warrior
I lay down my weariness
At this journeys peak,
I rest for a moment
- Cradled in peace.
I know in my heart,
The way is by truth
But fear lurks at the edge
Of my wretchedness -
Begging for habit and merciless
Retreat.
Hero within empower my stance
Strengthen my valour
With passion - I must provoke.
Encouraged by failure
Fuelled by despair
Armed with loneliness
This battle I do dare.
Engineered with faith
Founded on glory,
This journey I continue
Determined,
Anointed and
Sealed –
Graced by the love of Jove.
