Soulless and meaningless is life without nature, no green, no flowers, only concrete and the constant hum of robotic life,

Arid is the urban sprawl

Robbed of vitality and wonder.

Spewed with concrete and attitude

Lawns lay dead and forgotten;

Trees hang on to threads of pain

Patiently waiting for rain - through

Their forced slumber...

Energy resonates to the lack -

Of protest,

People gather with aimless thoughts

As the slow venom of mindlessness

 Engulfs and fools.

(No nature sprites live here...)

Aliveness through life lost, to the demons

Who rule and corrupt,

What once sparkled with ease, now

Dredged with contemptuous greed.

A city of congestion and chaos

Lost to the mindless care of Politians

Focused on highways and cavalier.

Rivers lay heaving, parks barren and

Gardens are soulless in their emptiness

No fairies or gnomes –

No natural magic, all lost

No character, no charm, no life

Stolen by the bitter ones claiming

Preservation ....                                          Pia

Harsh, real, sad, and very true with many urban landscapes. Thank you, Pia. Love and best wishes to you,
