A mental smile placed on paper.
|
The girl between.
That was you.
To young to know as a woman,
to old to know as a child.
Confused, and trusting,
and I not understanding.
To much, to soon,
and love dies,
before it lives.
I will remember you
as the girl between.
In the light,
not the dark,
and pleasently in the cool evening hours.
As your mind lies idle,
from the days work,
I hope that you will think of me,
and smile.
For that is how I remember you,
the girl between.

I think "The Girl Between" puts some very difficult thoughts and feelings into a very clear form. I've read many love poems, but this subject area is fresh and gives expression to what many people experience but do not have the gift to put into words. Thankyou, Michael, for dedicating your time, energy and talent for this.
