A collaborative effort from the pens of
Carole Mathys and Jon Michael Willey

Painting by Van Gogh
"Cafe Terrace at Night"

An Encounter of Chance

A man enamored was I

at Cafe Jacque’s this day

with a raven haired beauty of elegance

across the room

her eyes,  dark pools of allure

gazing long,  into mine

love was the message I sent her way

abruptly her look became one of askance

should I  press  the issue

take the measure of her

for my heart’s aching desires

or succumb to cessation

 take  leave

to my soul’s empty haunt

replay those moments

‘til she looks forever

with eyes of tender love

 into no eyes, but mine

for spring is risen

and love will surely

have its way with the air

A woman intrigued was I

by the sudden warmth

in a glance from across the cafe

the hint of a smile played

across his chiseled features

then our eyes touched and held

his look was bold

captivating me with the unknown

in that unguarded moment

smoldering messages were exchanged

my body, now blushed with heat

the view between us interrupted

as a waiter approached

seeking a moment for composure

I lowered my eyes

my hand toying with a glass

wondering

would he cross the room

give this romantic air a chance

or would passion’s promise

be dashed, remaining only

within his eyes, across the room

at Cafe Jacque’s

I love this, Carole. It is so similar in theme (and event) to one that I did with Crystal-Rain Love entitled "Reencounter." It is posted here at AD. You have recreated and shared the occasion most effectively. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Oh to wish! Oh to wonder! "An encounter of chance" tell our minds to figure that ubiquitous "two ships passing each other at night"
Then again...'til she look forever with tender eyes...

Like the ebb and flow of the two private thoughts of male and female when temtation and subtle flirtary is in the air...or the wine.
