Tumbling Toward Ecstacy

Inspired by AD poets...

We are such delicate creatures
housed in flesh and bone
We continually fall toward decay

The higher our spirits fly
The more our flesh conspires
to bring us down to earth

The deeper our consciousness
The more our sorrow tips
the scales of our psyche

We are balanced precariously
on the scales
Apples rolling toward the edge

Our weight is transitory
Based on gravity
and mathematical calculation

A constant push and pull
between matter and the ethereal
Fighters searching for the prize

The more we struggle
The more we strive to push limits
and the more tenacious we become

Falling then rising then falling again
Explorers in a turbulent sea

Defying gravity becomes increasingly difficult as you grow older or get out of shape, whereas in our fleet-footed youth we feel we could touch the stars when we're ecstatic. Good poem!

A spiritual pleasure to read.
"Tumbling Toward Ecstacy" a true joy to partake
Not only are the words beautiful but based on truth.
"...The higher our spirits fly
The more our flesh conspires
to bring us down to earth..."

Continued blessings,

Yes, I like this one.
The art of exploration. This is life at it's best.
After all, once you have reached the top what can you do?

We catch ourselves as we fall, only to fall again, such is the life we live as those who strive to express ourselves.

Great write,

It's a fight of push and pull, and all of it leads us to creativity; to figure out what we're all about. I like the message you bring.

We must fall to rise again, great pen, Lin!
A poet must explore to find truth... or at
least a balance for hope!

But we must explore on. Thought provoking, and well done!

Linda,
You question and confront our very nature and essence, not an easy thing to do in any form, but you do it with confidence and authority...and knowing, yes knowing. This is from deep within and is a true joy to read.

So right. Poets are a tenuous lot, clinging to their words like misers as the treacherous seas of life swirl about them.

I truly like the plain open format of this...the lay it on the line message that some so easily tend to ignore. Well done and look forward to reading more of your work in the future.

I love this, Linda, and agree with the premise. Kinda recalls
these lines from a poem I have yet to post:

We are antecedent
of the past we fashinoned and seldom
comprehend, touchstone to a future
anticipated in our genes....

... certainly NOT peri-menopausal angst, Linda!!!! Your evocative and highly perceptive comments are unisex, it seems to me... or do I mean bi-sexual???!! :)) I think your perspectives so deftly and artistically scribed are absolutely WONDERFUL and unique in expression, but absolutely spot on. You capture the wondering, wanderlust and waywardness of the poetic temperament with great aplomb here. I would feel privileged to be thought of in these ways. Thank you! :)) xx
