Destruction
by Henry Burt Stevens
7/23/2004

The new century
dawned destructive
threaded with
an old die

A locknut
soon tightened
the world
into war

Forces older
than sand
under the feet
of sons of Abraham

Picked a scab
soon a hemoroage
from New York City
to streets of Bagdad

Old hates, new weapons
new lies, old pretends
greed raw power
faced off in ruin.

Whoaaaaaaahhhhhhh! Very powerful truth told, Henry. Leaves one a bit breathless. Love and peace to you. Regis

We have a responsibility as human beings to not let the "greed and raw power" overtake us or blind us to the truth. Great poem!!
