We all know someone like this; the holier than thou righteous christian who is always quick to judge and quote the bible to you. They hold you up to constant religious scrutiny while they themselves lead a less than perfect christian existence.

Never mind boasting of your virtues to me

Thumping your bible in the name of Christianity

You try to convince me of how much you can quote

Romans, and Proverbs, and then you pompously gloat

About how much you know the word of God

You're in church every Sunday, just a- praising the Lord

Catching the Holy Spirit, fainting, and falling down

You are holier than thou; a virtual saint in your town

Or so you'd like us poor folks and church members to think

You are such a big hypocrite; you think your spit down stink

You're so self- righteous; you know how to lay down the law

You judge everyone you meet, you act like you have no flaw

You know every Commandment, every Parable, and every Psalm

One thing you don't know, you're living in sin with a married man

So before you start running around giving everyone else grief

You need to check you own situation and that is my honest belief

My abusive adopted father and mother were and still is a deacon and deacones of the church. They punched me and beat me outside the church and people knew abpout it. No one called the police but now they said sorry for not helping me. They are still going to church, lying and he is quoting the scriptures like never before. Why and hhow do people play with God like this! I really want them to pay for what they have done to me but i know that it is in God's hand for he is God and not me. Thi poem is so true and is happening all around the ebtire universe.

This is why I have nothing to do with "organized religion" anymore. There are other reasons. Well-stated, Pamela. Thank you. Love and peace to you. Regis

Pamela, it's folks like that, that give christianity a bad name. They can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. Not my problem or yours, don't ever let them get to you, they're crazier than all of us put together. Write on!!!

great message in this write; i know a lot of christians like this, and it really bugs me. i may be a christian, but i am not perfect, and i make mistakes. at least i am trying to live for the lord...give me a break and don't condemn me just because i can't get to church as much as i would like! at least i go sometimes!! plus it is hard to go on sundays when i work; by the time i get off i am so tired it isn't funny!!

((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in tx., karen lynn. :(
