Those Days

In this time of economic downturn, we could all stop for a moment and reminisce about those days... the good old days.

For those of you who were there

I want to take you on a journey

A journey back into a simplier place and time

A time that is forever etched upon your mind

I want to jog your memory; I want to ask the question-

Do you remember?...

Do you remember those days?

Those days when you couldn’t lie because it was a sin

Those days when mom was queen and dad was still king

Those days when everyone sat together and watched Rin-Tin-Tin

When families gathered around the piano on weekends to bond and sing

Those days when family members came together

To pray, to socialize no matter what the weather

Those days…

Those days  when our elders were respected and highly revered

When folks worked on jobs till they retired or dropped dead

Those days before Cellphones, Blackberries, Wiis, and MP3s

Those days before Palm Pilots, Video Cameras, Ipods, and DVDs

Those were the days…

There were no color teevees only black and white

And television and radio didn’t broadcast all night

Those days before emails and personal computers

Those days before children committed vile murders

Those days when kids respected authority

Before the government took control away from parents…

The head of the family

Those days when students prayed every morning in their schools

When we all dutifully lived by The Golden Rule

Those days were simplier…we had values then

We had morals, we had virtues and Jesus was our friend

We have morals, we have virtues, and folks,

Jesus is still our friend…

Oh yes, folks, Jesus is still our friend

Yes, Pamilla, I remember those days quite well, and I long to see them again. But I'm afraid that which we now cherish from the past will never be seen by us again. There are some things from the past that I do not wish to revisit; however, there are feelings from days gone by that I wish to have dwelling in me once more. I'm happy, for you, that you have not allowed cancer to claim you. It is very inspiring to hear you speak about the courageous battle you have fought against this bitter enemy. Keep fighting with all that is in you. But, somehow, I know you will do just that. Kind regards.

"Those Days"... and those days when the officers of government and the Congress obeyed the Constitution ~ USA ~ and the family meant home.

It would be wise for us to remember "Those Days" and to honor our families.

I have enjoyed the reading of "Those Days".

In respect and admiration,

Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU
