inspired by the Hurricane Katrina tragedy in New Orleans

Notes do not echo here

beaded sweat
our restless jewels

the darkening agony,
a once beckoning familiar---
abandoned.

Our respite

uneasy banter;
tragic screams;

Lives made bitter here.

Distorted faces
remain constant
in morbid procession.

The stench of death
unearthing ancient lessons:
of survival;
of savage provisions;

I like the bare bones of this, I admit to being tired of the onslaught of Katrina poems, but yours is excellent, a raw reality without being overdone.

This poem is raw as the hurricane, bares the truth to the pain and anger that is as real as Katrina itself. Over the worlds questioning of why they do this and why don't they do that, your poem offers a true explanation...survival

Thank you for sharing,
