They say it's difficult to get our feet in there Cause they just no-talent folks that just don't even care. They don't know how that special poem or song is born when you get the spirit to create early hours in the morn when you have no control over what you feel in side when you gotta get it out because real art is hard to hide. They are mad cause you special they hate you bad when you try they do whatever they can deceive snatch and lie but take my talent never, I don't even think so 'cause this thing is bigger than we'll ever know you can't take my dream because it leads every day you stop me in my path so I make another way somehow when you slip up and I get in deep inside because of some ole luck or even simple selfish pride, then you say you were the one who had discovered me you up in all my pictures when its publicity. Now I stand there in the light just where I ought to be Cause you can't take my talent cause it was planned for me
Every artist that has ever recovered rejection, or who has finally gotten a deal, that big break, will find sometimes that the individuals that gave you a hard time in your quest to success, will always find their way back in your life when accomplished goals are achieved...so this was my way of being grateful to those individuals who have the desire to stop an inspired person from getting that deal.

I like your goal of making poverty history. This is also a good poem reminding all artists that rejection is just an opinion. It means nothing on the wider scope. I've heard that Mark Twaine was told once that he was 'unpublishable'. A local writer who was just signed with Dell for a three book contract was told by a teacher in a writing class that 'she didn't have the passion to write a novel'. Luckily, Vicki Lane took that as a challenge. Her mystery novel 'Signs in the Blood' was her bold retort to his attempt to kill her dream. I've seen so many examples of this in talking with other writers. We can't allow them to get us down!

As a writer (even a speaker to be hired by a group not yet known to me for the future) I've learned from many aspiring folks that rejection slips are only post-it notes of encouragement for having done something others are afraid to do. They will be trophies of courage if we look at rejection as "they were not yet ready for us, there is something better down the road of success. It's a road that will only end when we take our final breath. Thank God that those of us who try choose not to be among the living dead.
