A mother's thoughts on mothersday coming up...

Mother’s Day

It comes around but once a year

And the reason is quite clear

We are being honored and remembered

For having our kids pampered

For taking care of dirty socks and dishes

Cooking meals and fixing clothes with stitches

For sitting in the dark room at night

Wait until they return and turn on the light

Ground them ‘cause they’re hours late, again

While we were worried sick, our gray hair makes it plain

We pay the bills and work a job

Help with homework, stay on top

Of things that need be done so urgently

Bills we pay, extensively

Wear our own clothes another season

Our children’s trendy closet is the reason

We clean and wipe and wash and work so hard

Day in day out, that’s in life our part

And what do we get in return for all we do

One day a year!!! It’s not enough, I’m telling you

I want a week, fully spoiled so rotten

Because I know the remainder of the year I’ll be forgotten

I’ll just be the mom, so quickly to help out

Never sigh and never pout

Rarely hear a ‘Thank you Mom’

Only the old familiar ‘It’s not fair, why me?’

That’s why I shout, one day is not enough

Our year of mothering is way too tough!

Happy Mother's Day!

I agree whole heartedly. When they get to be my age, well maybe not that old. lol. But as they look back, as I do, they'll remember all the wisdom and love you gave them. Let's pray, anyway. Hey, a rhyme; maybe I'll try my hand at poetry. Have a great Mom's Day, and a blessed year, Art

Ah... but the question perhaps is: would we rather NOT be mothers instead??!! Think I'll accept doormat status for the season and come out as glamorous debutante in due course!! I APPRECIATE YOU and we could have our OWN mutual celebration society goin down here! The most precious role on the face of this earth and one that reaps bountiful harvests when done in the completeness that you describe it here. You are stars!! :)) Bless you and thank you. Kate xx

I have to agree with you but there is light at the end of the tunnel as I have found out over the past two years, our reward is when we become grandparents and sit back condescendingly smug when our children come to us complaining of theirs. lol It will happen believe me.
