What A Morning

I saw the dawning yesterday--the sky was pink perfume
And strange that I should also see a whippoorwill in bloom.
The daffodils were singing like the heralds for a king
And bluebirds in the meadow were the flowers of the spring.
Standing in the morning sky the moon was shining bright
Forgetting when the sun is up it really has no light.
And horses I saw coming home to tinkling twilight bell
While geese were honking south for summer, flying in an "L."
I also heard a kitten yowl beneath an old oak tree,
While clinging carefully to a limb a hound dog did I see.
And shy before the morning sun, the sun dial turned her face
To the twilight shadows so that time was out of place.
And sure enough a rooster went to roost at break of day--
Oh, what a morning was the day that started yesterday.

| Yes, sometimes the moon forgets to disappear when it should, doesn't it!? LOL You write words that brighten the heart and pull on our memories. Peace. Joyce |
