Tenebrae

"Tennebrae" is a word that comes from the Latin, meaning "darkness" or "shadows".

We watched the age old story unfold
a Story that has many times been told.
In darkness and stillness we sat
and watched a man give up everything for us.
It was for us?
I am amazed
I am dazed.
People thought He was crazed.

I do rejoice
there is a joyful ending
but the pain
the unbelievable pain
can anyone explain
why it had to be?

He took our sins
He took our burdens
and bore them all
for us.

It's a beauty undescribable
it's a sorrow not understood
only to be felt
until tomorrow
we can rejoice
we are blessed.

The slate is wiped clean
we are free
the plan is in action
What is your reaction?

I have seen the miracles on this Earth
I have seen the torment, too.
The bitter tears have stung me also
but there are more
who have bore
so much unspoken tragedy.

We are free
We are loved
it is eternal
Thank you, my God, my Father, now
and forever.
Our love is light
compared to yours.
Just take it all
and hold it close
until you hold us eventually
in love eternally.
