A dream I had/have...

I dreamed of living in Paris
in a small garret
painting bad pictures of my
impressions of life
A half-empty glass of
red wine
dripping dark stains onto
the shadowbox
A Persian cat curled up into a ball
basking in the sunlight,
wishing I would sell a painting
so that she would have something more substantial
to eat than milk,
while I subsist on stale crusts of bread
softened by water.
Rain drops begin washing against
the grimmy yellowed window.
Caressing my last cigarette as if it was a woman...
while considering switching to nudes
instead of still lives
especially since I am running out of
fruit
and am down to my last tube of paint.
I dreamed...

Actually, it sounds wonderful. Being in Paris would be worth all the troubles. I am sure something would turn up to solve all the problems eventually, or at least one would hope so. :)

yikes...sounds like a nightmare, too...funny how the things we spend our entire lives avoiding sometimes would be welcomed relief...thanks for this contribution.
