FEEL LIKE SNOW
When I awake
…it feels like
s n o w
stillness
I sense inside
my house, my room , my bed,
my mind
clean, expectant quiet
like all the world’s holding its breath
waiting…
for what?
taste the hiatus
poised in the thin place
cutting edge of God.
explore arctic illusion
the mostly hidden
iceberg of spirit
word, picture, vision
tip of God’s vasty deep
poking consciousness.
a lighted billboard
my soul flashes:
I’m done…I’m done…I’m done...
ponderous weighty wantinghabit of emptiness
fills me with counterfeit good
sinks me in debt to nothing
waiting…
for what?
Where does life go
when the light goes out
when the flat line hums
when the paws go still
when there’s no more space in time
when I’m done…done…done
finished
give up
the universe in which I spin
the ocean in which I swim
the forest in which I green
the body in which I seem
waiting…
for what?
born, live, die
wither, pose, lie
torn up worn out
cry again, try again
shorn and pierced
fly again
fly up like a celestial Brownie
see the pattern
the lace of my days
light shines through
dapples my life
as I wait…
for what?
small mind
step to the rear
take a powder
go fishing
drift, melt away
drop out
drop the mask of
of unconscious knowing
cruise a while
consciously unknow
wait…wake up
feel like
s n o w.
