Freidreich Neitzsche wrote, "When you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." Love is a bit like that, as this little poem observes.

Looking into your green eyes
Was like gazing into the abyss
There was a darkness, emptiness
Something too deep to reach for

Something you were afraid of.
And so you closed your eyes
Rather than see their hunger
Mirrored in my pupils

An abyss is usually referred to as a "BLACK HOLE" green eyes would not apply too much to "darkness" However, it is all in the imagination.
