Bass Fishing
Tap, tap,
I can feel
the slightest ping,
ring up the line,
to the reel.
It’s Mr. Largemouth
I know it is he. I
am ready for his best.
I have a plan.
Give him some line,
take my time. Man,
is stronger than fish,
anytime.
Twelve pound test
It’s only fair.
He’ll have a chance.
I set the hook, with
a flip of my wrist, but
nothing is there.

your title caused me to sit up and take notice -- had me reaching for my old Mitchel 300 and a rod !!!
I know the feeling well the tap tap of the fish, the rising excitement as my mind imagines what kind of monster awaits, the missed strike
Your poem captures it all elegantly
a good write!

Chuck,
Good one. We are stronger but smarter, I wonder. Maybe that's why I'm told fish is brain food. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul. |
