Sometimes, as you sleep, elves with tiny eyes and small hands appear in your dreams and steal your thoughts and ideas. They take them back to the elfin wilderness and make magic and write elfin magical books based on your ideas. Before they leave your dreams, they replace your thoughts and ideas with colorful weird stuff.
