Tired
I’m tired…
Tired of treading water
Like I found in my
Basement after the rain
Fell the other night,
Which ain’t as deep as
The drowning I do
Every time I open up
Another bill.
Tired of putting on
My big-boy pants to
Go to my J.O.B. where.
Day after day
I spin my hamster wheel
Chasing the tiny nugget of
Respect for how fast
I make it spin.
Tired of watching the
Temple of my body
Fall into the same ruin
Every building goes through;
The windows are clean
But the glass is scratched by
The years of my life.
Tired of the push and pull
From places to go for
Things to do with
People who see nothing but
Their own wants and needs
Who feed on energy and
Crap out indifference to
The world beyond their noses.
It’s late in my day, and
All I have to show for it
Are more creases of concern,
Fewer lines of laughter,
And a desire to take
An old man’s nap
Because…just because.
I’m tired.

| If this is fiction, than you've made the feelings very real, for I too am tired of so many things...but never tired of reading your poems, love Holly |

A diving into the ontoligic ocean of imagination to find wise answer for a teleologic reality... "Tired" paints the reflective mind.
I salute You, Poet.

Robert, this is an excellent, although sad write. If it truly is your life, I wish you well. No one needs to be burndened in that manner. Seems like it wasn't all that long ago, that to, was my life...but then I took a risk and changed the things that were real crap in my life. It didn't happen all at once, and is still a work in progress. Most significantly, you are a good writer, keep it up.
Cheers,
Dan |

(((Robert))),
I'm sorry - life sure piling up on you, and it doesn't help the body wants to fold under the pressure - I hear you! May not have all the stresses you do, but have my own types, weighty just the same - I felt the sadness, the weariness in these lines - well penned. Know you're in my prayers -
(((HUGS))) and love, and *kotc*, Karla. |
