(these are actually lyrics for a song I am toying with, but I like it as a poem...)

Sitting in the shadows,
Weeping for the past--
The friends I thought forever
Gone away so fast.
I know I cannot hold you
You've gone too far away,
O'er the mountains of the moon...
To where I cannot say.
A gypsy told me truly,
A heart's a rolling stone
The only one you've claim to
Is the one that is your own.
I've the bit of silken ribbon
That you tied into my hair
And I keep it 'neath my pillow
And I dream you'll find it there.
I dream you'll kiss me softly,
And hold me while I cry,
Wipe away the sorrow,
And love me till I die.
But I know you are a-roving
And you'll not come back again
And the dream it will unravel,
Like a whisper on the wind.

| I think it's a lovely poem and/or song. Wish I could hear its music, perhaps someday you'll add the melody here so that we may hear it. Well done. |
