As I stroll through the city I gawp with such awe
Such beautiful buildings, and then there was more
I watch others gaze as they see what I see
Such beautiful buildings stood looking at me
The buildings so large, so ornate and strong
They tell of the past from where they belong
Built by the strong hands of craftsmen to last
Still being built as each generation past
For some families the buildings intertwine as if one
As great grandfather, grandfather, father and son
Toiled for a lifetime and watched it grow tall
Toiled for a lifetime for the benefit of all
So in this fair city of beauty and charm
I stroll with my love, my love’s on my arm
A city for lovers or so I have heard
A Geordie a lover? oh come now – absurd!
Or could these great buildings a magic have woven
Could this fair city a Geordie have chosen
To show off its treasure, if only in part
To draw such reaction with some magical art
As I stare at the wall I gawp once again
Such beautiful lilies - upside down it’s a train
However I look, from every view
I’m thrilled to be here looking with you
The look on your face as at the wall you do stare
The look in your eyes, bright lights how they glare
As I look at the art then to you I turn
I bloody love you xx
No surprise there then!!
