Um, Lord, About Your Angels..........

You may want to read my blog, "Speaking of angels...." after digesting this little poem.
It's dated 11/19/2007 in my blog list.

"Um, Lord, About Your Angels....."

Don't want no wimpy angel,
no sissy in a flimsy gown;
don't give me one with fluffy feathers
or one who's lying down.

Don't want one holding a candle
or flitting through the sky,
Nor hanging out in the kitchen
watching me bake a pie.

No, I'd like one with muscles,
lean and hard and primed;
a real he-man angel
who's on  duty all the time.

Don't mean to be particular,
but a Bible-angel's my kind;
a genuine, super-hero angel
is the one who comes to mind.

I get into more trouble,
than many folks, you see;
and I don't think a fancy angel
is the one to rescue me.

 I'd settle for a Gabriel,
or Michael, the warrior strong,
but if they're not available,
send any brave angel along.

I want an old-fashioned angel
to guard me every day;
no sissy, Lord, that's all I ask;
I know you'll see it my way.

"The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
and he delivers them."   Psalm 34, verse 7

Now Hear This  (Daniel):  "I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of the finest gold around his waist.  His body was like chrysolite, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude."
                   (Daniel ch. 10, verses 5 and 6)

This is a great little poem and I loved reading it. You are so right - the little angels we see depicted so often are human ideas and not God's true angels. Won't it be awesome to see them in person one day?

I'm thinking God's host of angels are exactly as you describe your 'perfect' angel. How else could we all survive? I believe that I've got THAT kind of angel - luck of the draw? Nah, God knew my journey would be difficult and gave me a really good angel.

God bless you. Kathy

LOL I've seen my angel: a little black nurse. :) She had more strength, more courage in her small body than many so-called "he-men." LOL Know what they say: Dynamite comes in small packages. :) Excellent, Connie, enjoyed.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Is it possible to share the same angel. I'd prefer an angel in muscles myself. I may be fearless but there's times when I need a strong muscle in an angel. This poem is unique, funny and wise. I like your style.
Love,
Susan
