Moment in Winter

Out on the porch, the world grew quiet

& big juicy snowflakes sparkled

As they blew gently under the street light

Time stretched long & wide these few minutes

A white blanket of wonder enveloping

The familiar mundane cookie cutter houses

Set row by row, in perfect suburban conformity

Shining Christmas lights reflecting off the snow & ice

As if just this turn of weather recreated everything

Reborn glittering rooftops adorned with icicles

Mystically illuminated in rainbow twinkling color

We stood in the icy early hours of morning

The cold outside a sharp contrast to warm hearts

A glazed shine like winter magic in our eyes

Stealing pieces of long dark night

Air capturing each breath as clouds that fade

Like moments, to be lost in the dawn sky,

Wow! You have captured the spirit and words that failed me when we walk in the winter evening - looking over the decorations of the neighborhood. Good write. Susan
