I paint to celebrate life, it's my expression of gratitude. (Poem below)

Painting by L. K. Craft

Painting . . .

By  L. K. Craft

Mystery and freedom, ever so present in each brush stoke,

Creating what is intended and what is unpredictable.

An illumination of the artist and the unknown,

A uplifting connection that is sacred.

Blending colors is a part of the journey.

The strategic effort with a goal,

Yet, the outcome is always something different.

An artist experiencing a spiritual moment.

Where is the art? Is it the motion of the brush?

The anticipated vision?

The blending and splashing of colors?

Or is it the final canvas?

Art is in both the experience and outcome.

Whether it be the creating , or the way one breathes it in.

Art is not a task, nor a strategy.

It is expression coming to light,

Unfolded in a rhythm of creating.

A spiritual collaboration of united effort,

Of the unknown, blended with the artist's skill.

It require a sense of appreciation for the union,

A celebration of what one beholds.

Painting is not an isolated ego celebrating.

It is an edification of true gratitude,

Acknowledging the mystery and contribution of the unknown.

A undeniable, indescribable spiritual union.

Your writing is almost tenderly offered. I enjoyed this piece, particularly the line that reads "Art is in both the experience and outcome." That is how I feel exactly about my paintings, photography and poems. Thank you for sharing this touching work.

A nice description of the creative "process." Well done.

A beautiful, all-illuminating piece, Linda. I sit with a cat on the arm of my computer chair, smiling. With you and at him.

It is a paean to being, pure and simple, complicated by Being.

Perhaps I'm being a bit obscure, but this poem strikes me as an artist's philosophy spilling paint on her creative flow. Here is a poet who sounds as if she's in awe of creating, attributing her art to an 'undeniable, indescribable spiritual union.' A spiritual union with what I'd like to know? With the laws of the universe? Or, with the unpredictibility of her art's outcome?

Soothing and inspirational.
